This is our 2nd trip to Aruba.
This time we want to spend a nice day at the beach.
Was planning on going to Palm beach.
Is the beach public?
Do the big hotels let you use facilities, restaurants, pools etc?
I have heard the Marriott is very nice.
How much is a cab from the cruise pier?
The best transportation out to the beaches is the local bus (was N17). You get on at the bus terminal across the street from the piers. The price in November 2010 was $5 round trip for 2 people. A bargain! They will drop you off wherever you wish and pick you up. We stopped at Eagle Beach and spent about 4 hours. There are no restroom facilities at this location. There is a rental hut for chaises and umbrellas and a snack shack. We took bottled water with us and towels and had a great time. Water shoes are a good idea and a hat also. I believe you can get off at the hotels and use the beach and hotel restaurants, etc.
I've also used the public transportation in Aruba and it was super easy, plus the bus station is very close to the pier. The driver can tell you where to get off at a good beach, I totally forgot what beach we went to, but there are miles of beautiful beaches.
