Default The Pearl

Hi everyone. My wife and I are doing the 7 day western on ncl pearl 4 april. Never done ncl. Have done celebrity, princess, and carnival. Looking forward to it but am baffled by the lack of info on ncl's web site. We are staying in room 11504 and hope it is a decent room with little noise from above. We are in our 50's. Can anybody give me the lowdown? I have looked at their casino package, but can not figure out if it is a good deal. 50 bucks in promo chips for 50? Thanks for any honest, non-judgmental opinions.

Surprised your agent wasn't able to give you all the good things bad things about this. But you're right, the NCL website is not a great source of information.

The fact you're in a mini-suite is a good thing, but you're right under the Lido Deck, which is often quite noisy. But in your case, you're directly under the spa area, so there should not be any noise in the evening hours and that's a good thing. However, you are in the very front of the ship where you may feel some 'motion of the ocean' if you encounter any rough seas. So if either of you are prone to seasickness, that could be a problem, but usually at that time of year the seas are relatively calm.

As for the casino, sorry, can't help you there as we're not gamblers, but I'm sure others will chime in on the matter.

Thanks for the response Pete. You hit it on the head. I was concerned of its location. I did summize that it was under the Spa's, not really sure where, but thought we would be OK. Not concerned about the "motion". By the way, I am sure you are going to tell me the obvious, but what is bridge viewing room located a couple rooms to the bow of us. Is it really a viewing room for passangers, and if so is it busy? Thanks for your expertise. We booked with cruises.com. They sold us the package, followed up with selling insurance, told us we would recieve a 100 dollar ticket for pre or post hotel discount, and see you later. Not heard from them since. Typical.

Not a good idea booking with them. They're into quantity, not quality and most of their people work in a call center, are not certified travel agents, have worked there less than six months, and have never been on a cruise or to any of the ports. So their expertise is limited to selling, not servicing.

And usually it's better to book your own hotel than to book a package or have your agent help you with an independent booking. (Our company does the same thing, so I'm well aware of what they do and how they do it.)

But the 'viewing room' is an area where people can go and look through the glass to see the bridge. It's not real busy, but people will walk by your cabin during the day, so it's not a problem.

As for what's above, I agree it shouldn't be a problem because it appears you have treatment rooms above you and those are not used in the evening, during the night, or early in the morning.

Keep checking your rate for any specials and if you see them, don't hesitate to call your agent and request the reduction.
