What to look for?

Hello all :) First time cruiser here. Well to be honest first time planner. My friends and family are planning a cruise, to the western Caribbean, in April of next year Being a hyper researcher I was sooo happy to find this forum. Thank you all for your tips and advise :)

One question I have not seen is this...

Is there anything specific I should look for to purchase? For instance my mother always said if I ever toured Europe look for Italian leather and Spanish silver as they are some of the best in the world.

If you had to suggest items that might be better purchased in the western Caribbean what would you suggest?

Welcome to Cruise Mates,

I am not aware of any "must buy" items, unless you are perhaps interested in native crafts. It is a world marketplace any more. You will be told there are jewelry bargains galore but they are not really that great. You might save a couple of bucks on liquor.

I prefer to get out of the shops and experience your new surroundings.

Hi and welcome to our neighborhood...!
The closest thing I could suggest, would be a very large selection of silver jewelry, in Cozumel. Certainly not a must have to remember your stop there, but if you see something you love, grab it, as you probably may not see it again.

Hope this is the beginning of our dialogue together, as this group has a wealth of knowledge to share!

I picked up some wonderful vanilla in Cozumel, you will see it for sale all over the main shopping street. You may want to pick up a rum cake in Grand Cayman, again, they are sold at quite a few places, easy to find and most have some for tasting :-)
