Question Walking to Charlotte Amalie

We will soon be in St. Thomas and SXM. I remember there is a nice path past the yacht club to Phillipsburg, but have never walked between Havensight Pier an C.A. Is this reasonable or should we stick with a jungle taxi?

We have been to St. Thomas many times and I see people walking there and back all the time. It looks to be a pretty good walk from the pier. I always take the taxi because it gets very hot at times there. But if you are up to the task I say go for it. Enjoy.

I agree with Seadog. It's quite a while (about a mile) and it can be hot at times, so it depends on you.

Two things; don't shop at Havensight Mall - prices are higher and they are less willing to negotiate compared to downtown. Also, if you walk outside the gated area and hail a taxi, the prices are usually better since those coming inside the gated area have to pay a fee for the privilege, so this is passed along in the form of higher prices.

I would not suggest this unless you are fit....walking on these narrow sidewalks filled with people, streets clogged with cars and people, add in the heat, and why bother..lol

Not sure if the governor still closes the streets when there are many ships in. We were there once when it happened, and it was wonderful...

Hi-
It's a short walk between Havensight and Charlotte Amalie; we've done it many times. You can cut through the yacht club--look for the signs--and you'll be there in no time. - Musing About Cruising
