Default St.Martin

We docked in St.Martin last Sunday on the Dutch side . We were told initially that they are 97 % back to the way they were before the hurricane . On the ship we we told it was 90 % .

However,at most I would say 40%.It was very depressing . I realize that they need the cruise ships to generate revenue but in my opinion ships should not be docking yet on the island.

Sadly, it's probably a matter of not being able to rebuild without the income from the cruise ships.

I have an author friend on FB, who has been documenting what's going on in Tortola...it's very very sad. Lineman from Jamaica will be there over Christmas to continue with the power situation....they also spiffed up the dock area, for the ship that was due...lipstick on a pig...on any of the hit islands, once you go beyond the port for any distance, it becomes obvious how tough the situation really is..

Up until a week prior I was not sure if I could go on the cruise for medical reasons. On all prior cruises I walked from the ship pier to St.Martin in both directions .My wife was positive that I would not be able to do it this time . However ,I was able to do it.

We have been cruising since 1973 and the passengers on the ship were the nicest we ever met. We made 3 friendships .

The food was very good ,the Wait staff was great .The negatives were the entertainment and the CD . In my opinion the Activities Manager was much better.

We booked this cruise for Dec.2018 which will be 4 years in a row, same ship .
