Will I be given more than one option of flights if I don't deviate?
Will I be given more than one option if I do deviate, or do I get to pick my flights, I know there is a nonstop north west offered daily to Vancouver I want to be on this flight. Should I just request NW flights now? Should I see what the cruise line offers before I deviate?
You did note on my reservation that we want to deviate?
Will deviating usually cost more than the deviation fee?
I tried to help a bit with this question in the Ask the Staff folder, but I'll respond here as well.
I highly recommend using air deviation when booking Cruise Line air.
Here's how it works
1. U put in a request to the cruise line through your TA. If there's flights u know u want, u specify then. What time, which airline, which date, etc.
2. The cruise line will then respond to let u know if your request is available, and if there is any further cost other than the deviation fee. (normal deviation fee is between $35- 50)
3. At that time u have the right to accept or decline the deviation.Or u can look at other deviation possibilities.
If u accept, u pay the deviation fee. If not u stay with regular cruise line air schedules. At that point they are in control of how they get to the point of embarkation. Their choices of airlines, flights, times and routing.
I've only had to pay a fee over and above the deviation fee once, and I think it was an extra $15/person.
Hope this helps understand the process a bit better.
i asked for an air deviation this cruise. I took their air program the last time and almost missed two planes and the boat. I did not like running for planes and boats. I would highly recommend this. I did ask this year. I asked for a specific airline and times. I have a 2 hr layover between flights just in case. I get to the boat in lots of time. It will be relaxed this year. I paid the fee and $ 5.00 a piece extra. Not bad for peace of mind. Have fun.
