Jeanne
Just got back from this itinerary but on the Inspiration
Been to these islands many times. Aruba is our favorite of the Caribbean
In Antigua (not on the list) attached is THE JOLLY ROGER TOUR.
A must memory...smaller tha its sister ship in Barbados its a great time.
In Guadaloupe...Carbet Falls Adventure is a must.
Be sure you sign up for your selected tours as soon as you get on board
they sell out fast especially the one above.
Aruba ..Pelican II is a nice relaxing tour up the coast on a Catamaran..sp.
St. Thomas...go to Trunk Bay on St. Johns one of the top beachs in the Caribbean
Shopping is great in St Thomas ..go downtown for the experience. Know your table sizes for linens.

Tour info attached is from www.carnival.com we have found it is pretty close to but not necessarly exact to the tours on board. Some experienced cruisers get their tours off of the ship to save $'s. Can be a little tricky.

Aruba
Ship leaves at 11:00pm....gives you a chance to go to Carlos'n Charlies a short walk from the pier. If you plan to eat there make it early...the resturant turns into a party bar early. Quite a site to see all the cruisers get ..lets say "impared".
Another memory, conversation item ..many know of this place or have been there. Orginal is in Cozumel.
BBQ pork ribs (Huesitos), is their specialty.
Quite a sight to watch the party people or be one of them comming back to the ship @ 10:00-10:30pm with a band at the pier to greet and a party on deck.
That's the way it was for us ..hope the same for you.
Shopping is good and a short walk from the ship. Some stores close early

Hi Jeanne,
Sounds like you'd have time to tour the rain forest, although I hear its just not what it used to be before the hurricane. Its always nice walking through Old San Juan and you can visit the forts there, we really enjoyed seeing El Morro, lots of interesting shops etc. Where are you staying there?

Hi Jeanne,
We were able to board by 1, had lunch and was out by the pool right after, luggage soon after that. We were on a Princess ship and they docked farther down, we needed a cab from the hotel to get there, but noticed the Carnival ships were very close by. We did shop around Old San Juan and it wasn't that great price wise, but some neat shops, check out the butterfly shop :-) Yes, run was cheap, but you can still get it all over the islands, save the shopping for St. Maarten or St. Thomas. I would think its safe to start out to the pier after 12:00 and it should be quick. Enjoy Destiny, have heard people have a great time on that ship.

Jeanne
The published time for Carnival out of San Juan is 2:30pm.....we boarded
about 1:30 pm
back in March this year (Inspiration) found our room...filled out shore tours
in the lounge
and were having lunch on the Lido Deck at 2:30pm. There wer guit a few people
already on board suggesting an even earlier boarding. Providing the ship was
cleared on time in the morning. I believe the Destiny sails at 10:00pm that
evening. My wife likes the swim cover ups and wrap around prices and
selection but hate the "t" shirts. Jewelry so so...Watch what you purchase as
"t's" check quality close or pass. Some one said Hanes has a factory there.
Don't remember about duty free.... Perfume in Guadelope...Watch's, Jewelry,
Linens, Liquor in St Thomas...Crystal, fun things souveniers in Aruba.
By the way in Aruba one time we went up the coast to where the big Hotels are
and hung out on the beach. Had a great time just relaxing.
We had the life boat drill just as we pulled away from the pier..bummer
Is what you save on liquor really worth the hassel???? unless a special
$125.00 bottle of Conac ..sp
