Hi all. My girlfriend and myself are going on our first cruise Nov. 5 on the Victory and am trying to find out all the info. that we can. I read below something about drink coupons. Can someone clarify exactly what they are? Is it a way to cut down the expense of drinks while you are on the ship. Is it good for the duration of the cruise or just a one time opportunity? How much is a beer on a ship? Thanks in advance for any and all info.
Drink coupons are purchased in advance of your cruise up to two weeks before, and delievered to you at the first night dinner. They save on the cost of the tip, usually around $.50, I used them all through the week on all drinks except for the drinks that you purchase in the special glasses of the day. I drank mostly the frozen drinks. The cost of them are $15 for 4 coupons and can be purchased by calling Carnival, not sure of the number, or on line on the carnival web site.
I would definitely purchase them again when I go on my next cruise on the Destiny in May, and then the following year on the Spirit in Feb. 2002. Not sure of the cost of beer as I do not drink it.
On cruise critic, I believe someone a few months ago posted all the prices of the drinks including beer.
I'll be sailing on Nov 5 as well on the Victory, this is my first cruise and I think I will be purchasing the coupons as well. It will also save the waiters from having to come back and get you to sign for your drinks.
Plumberv - Just be really careful about bringing Liquor onboard in your carry-on bag. I saw more people get caught doing that then I can count. If you get caught they confiscate your liquor and they won't return it until you return to your original port of departure. Also, if you purchase Liquor in the ports you're sure to get caught because they XRAY all packages and bags coming onto the ship now.
Daffed - The waiters have to come back to bring you your drink anyway so they bring the receipt with them then. On the two Carnival Cruises we've been on they take your card number with them when you order the drink and run the number and bring the charge slip when they bring the drink.
We bring our own!! Just make sure that you check the bag with your liquor in it -- don't carry it on. We pack beer and wine in one suitcase. We also bring a collapsible cooler in our suitcase. The room steward keeps it filled with beer, wine and ice for you. You can get wine glasses at any of the bars. Although we are by no means cheap, I would much rather spend my money on catamaran sails, jewelry, etc. We probably saved about $400 on our last cruise!Brian wrote:

You are allowed to bring wine and champagne on the ship at the port of embarkation. You can get the drink coupons online at www.gifts.carnival.com/bvcatalog.asp. You have to be registered to the Carnival website and also have to supply your room and reservation#'s.
