We will be going on the Paradise leaving 10/29 for a honeymoon cruise and were wondering whether it was a good idea to purchase the drink/photo vouchers before leaving. Also any advice on which tours to take for the Eastern Caribbean (along with any other advice) would be great and VERY helpful. This will be our first cruise.
just came back from oct 1 cruise. first to remember, you and your spouse MUST not bring any smokes or smoking instrutments into the ship or you two will be kicked out of the ship. we heard from other cruisers that quite a few people got thrown out of the ship because of above. we heard one couple was thrown out for lighting candles!! if this is true, i guess thats probably because they have smoking instruments such as matches or lighters in order to light the candles for their honeymoon romance. for tours, if you want to save money, you could join local tours while on shore. there are lots of locals wanting your business. e.g. if you want to see the rain forest in san juan, the ship charges $43 (i think), locals will only charge you $25. if you want to buy jewellers, buy them in st. thomas. one of our tablemates bought her ring in san juan and she said the same ring was appraised for $400 less in st. thomas. another suggestion, if you buy jewellers, make sure to bargain, even if you give shops ridiculously low bid, you could always negotiate up if they refuse your price. lots of activities for you to enjoy in the ship, don't be afraid to order 2-3 starters or 2-3 entres if you could eat them all. food is good, if you compare food to the food you would have eaten while on the road and on holiday. the buffet is better than all the buffets i have eaten in us and canada (not counting las vegas, of course). choices are limited though. pizza better than domino, little caesars and pizza hut. the show "Shout" must not be missed. if you have the comedian dave miller on board, he is not funny (hardly anybody laughed while he was doing his stuff), you can skip him. large picture 8X10 is $19.95, but very good quality. you and your spouse will have a BLAST if you go to this cruise with an open mind (meaning don't expect to be treated like royalty because then your expectation will be too high to be met). have fun.
You "Can" use the coupons for any drinks up to $4.50 in value. This includes Pina' Coladas and frozen daquiries. For drinks under $3.26 or over $4.50 it is better to just put it on your sail and sign card( the coupon covers the 15% gratuity).
