Default Excursions in Calica/Cancun

If you could choose only one thing to do here what would it be?

I also want to know what this place is like. Is Calica a real city with things to do or a dive? Please if you have been to this place let us know what we can expect.

Calica is a rock quarry. There is nothing there but some vendors and a taxi stand. The taxis can take you to Playa Del Carmen which is about 10 minutes away and cost $10, or you can take a taxi from Calica to Cancun that is about 50-60 miles away. When we were there in August, the taxi took 4 of us to Cancun for $95 and they stayed with us for 4 hours, took us where ever we wanted to go, and then they returned us to Playa Del Carmen, we looked around there and went to Senior Frogs. Then we caught another taxi back to Calica for $10. It was great--no problems at all. The ship also offers a shopping excursion that will get you to Cancun for $30 each and it only goes to a flea market and to a couple malls.

Great stop. Nothing to do in Calica, but it's only about 5 minutes from an ecological park called Xcaret. You can probably book a tour from the ship for about $40PP. It's an all day thing. They have an underground river you can snorkel through, a butterfly preserve, a turtle preserve and release program, swimming with the dolphins, snorkeling, sun and swim, and 4 great restaurants. This was a highlight of our cruise. NOT TO BE MISSED. Mel
