After a hellish -- but productive -- real estate month, I am rewarding myself with a quickey 4-day cruise on the Holiday (LA, to Catalina, to Ensenada and back). Can anyone give me a preview of things to expect on the ship????
We just took a week Mexican Riviera in October on the Rhapsody of the Seas (with a balcony cabin!) but this time we're just in a guarantee (but cheap) interior 1A room with the upper and lower berths. (I think below this category you just sleep in the rescue boats!) My feeling was with only one "at sea" day, the rest of the time we'll be in port or eating dinner etc. I was thinking of bringing my "wave machine" to simulate (and cover up) some notion of the sea.
At any rate, anyone have some input on this cruise, or things to bring that would make life more pleasant?
Found one short members review of Holiday that may help a little?? Yes, sounds like you deserve this short cruise, have fun! We were on Rhapsody when she was doing the Southern Caribbean itinary and we absolutely love that ship, will be a great cruise for you all, have fun on that one as well :-)
We went on the holiday in Feb of last year ,And being from So Calif we have been
to catilina Many times and Tejuana a lot. My recomendation is for Catilina we rented a golf cart and toured the island for a hr for I think $30 and just walked around a little had a drink on the beach and went back to the ship and relaxed .
When we went to ensanada we took the blow hole tour from a group on the pier
(cheeper) it took a few hrs and got back to town and had lunch and got back to the ship. They also have a Papas & Beer in ensanada and they get cranking for the partyers so it just depends on what you like to do ... Just have a good time
The 3-4 day trips ar great for a short unwind . We are scheldued for the 7 day on
the Elation in May that we are looking foward to ........
I've done that cruise several times and have always had a good time. I figure a cruise is as good as you make it. The Holiday is moving to San Juan in May, so I'm glad you get to cruise on her before she leaves the area. She is being replaced by the Ecstacy, which is a larger ship. Same size as the Elation. Just have fun!

Thanks Bev -- glad to know I'll be able to try her out before she moves to San Juan.
Frankly, I'm just looking forward to eating -- have lost 5 pounds during my busy time with work and need to gain some weight back (and not have to worry about a a pager for a couple of days).
I promise, again, to write a review (like my one for the Rhapsody)
Anouther little thought... When we went on the Holiday it was our first cruise
but it being a little older in there fleet , It was smaller but there was a good point to that ..... We met people and injoyed running into them . On deck ,at dinner ect .
I felt it was kept up well !!
We are going on the elation in may and are looking foward to something different.
But I think the mega ships are like shopping malls and lack charm . But thats why
there is a wide selection of ships and cruises.. We will ride the Ecstacy at anougher time and it will be like a different cruise
