I've been accused of "missing the boat" a few times in my life, but has anyone out there ever really missed the boat at one of the ports? If so, what did you do? I've heard horror stories of "locals" who will be happy to run you out to the ship for a "price". Then I hear you must climb up the ladder?????????
Please let me hear your stories.

Usually if you miss the ship they WILL leave you. You will be responsible for meeting the ship at the next port of call. We barely made it on a cruise i went on in OCT. We were the last tender and the ship was moving as 40 of us climbed up the stairs onto the ship. My advice DONT MISS THE SHIP it will cost you a fortune to get back to it. have fun
Thank goodness, it's never happened to me. I'm very paranoid about this happening and take all of my i.d. plus a credit card with enough spending limit that would buy me an airplane ticket to the next port..
We have never missed the boat...and don't plan to, but...
On our last cruise (Paradise), one young couple was sailing another Carnival ship and missed its departure from Ocho Rios. Carnival had them simply sail with us. Of course, all of their clothing and personal belongings were still on the other ship! They purchased the bare necessities and made do for the last couple days of the cruise.
