Default Carnival - Fascination

I have been reading the reviews from all of you and am slightly nervous! I can tolerate a lot, but a hot, sticky ship due to an air conditioning problem is NOT one of them! I have a booking on the Fascination 8/24. Should I call Carnival and find out if the "problems" have been resolved and/or change the booking to another ship? At this point I don't know what to do? I am sailing with a friend and co-worker who is taking his daughter for her 16th birthday. I don't know if I should tell him about the negative reviews I have read here and have him worry? Her birthday will be on the last night at sea returning to Miami and he made arrangements for a cake at dinner, decorations, etc. Hope Carnival can handle it! Anyone with comments or advise please post or email me direct would appreciate it! Thanks...

We went on the Fascination in 99 when the ship still did the southern caribbean. We personally had no problems, but then again this was going on 2 years ago. We had a great time, and had an awesome cruise director. I hope everything works out for you, good luck! I hope Carnival is not going down the tubes because we have the Fantasy booked for Oct. We really need a trouble free vacation!

Thanks Kristin, I too know of other people who have sailed on the old itinerary out of San Juan and had nothing but good things to say...that is why I felt confident booking on this ship. But I guess years of "wear and tear" can bring down the overall ship if they don't keep up on the maintenance! I do hope it will not be a disappointing cruise.

Well, honestly for a short cruise what do you have to loose right? Either way Carnival has always been a lot of fun, I always have a great time! Just get involved with as much as possible and things should be just fine.

My husband and I are going on the 4 day Fantasy cruise this October, and I'm not really all that apprehensive. The Fantasy is even older than the Fascination! I will try to judge things for myself. I have been on 5 Carnival cruises, and so far so good! No problems yet! I have been lucky I guess!

Maybe ask your travel agent or call Carnival yourself to inquire about the A.C problems encountered by other people in the past? I would think that's a problem that they would want to render asap!

Good luck, and have a great time!

Hi Len,
My personal opinion for what it's worth, and I am one of those stuck in the hot rooms June 4th cruise; is call Carnival and see if the problem has been fixed. If you get the run around or do not get a definate answer to your question, I would cancel my reservation and try to book a cruise on one of the newer ships. My brother went on the Sensation and had no problems as well as another friend of ours. Because I can tell you a hot room will make the whole trip miserable, unless of course you are a person who is cold natured. Good luck on whatever you decide.

Carnival's Response to the HOT CABIN issue:

Thank you for visiting Carnival's site on the World Wide Web. In
regards to your query, the problem we had was only on that particular
sailing and at this time that has been resolved. You can also check the
recent reviews on the message board of passengers stating that there
were no problems.

If there is anything else I can do for you please, don't hesitate to
ask. Thank you for choosing Carnival.

I booked my family of 33 people on the Fascination's Southern Caribbean itinerary last November 25th. They all said I would have a hard time topping that cruise. It was wonderful!!! The ship was clean with good sized cabins, always done up. Service and food was excellent as was the entertainment. I wouldn't hesitate to go on that ship again in a minute
