Category SOLD OUT/Upgrade?
Was just "cruising" Carnival's web site and looked at the rates for the cruise I am sailing on next month. I noticed that the minimum inside category I booked is no longer available. I assume they are not taking any more bookings at the lower rates. Being that I booked on a guarantee looking for that upgrade what do my chances look like? I realize this is a silly question, but has anyone had any experiences they can share. The cruise is NOT sold out just the category I reserved.

Re: Category SOLD OUT/Upgrade?
You are guaranted a cabin in same cat. with upgrade almost certain. On upgrades early bookings get best cabins, even if ship is not sold out. Hope this helps and have a great cruise.

Re: Category SOLD OUT/Upgrade?
You are guaranteed that category or better (anywhere on the ship). I've heard that upgrading is based on the early you booked your cruise, how much sales your travel agency has done w/that cruise line and other factors that we may not know. You would think that if all cabins in your chosen category are sold out that your chances to be upgraded would be favorable. The cruise lines bump up from the category to free up least expensive cabins because they know they can sell those cabins better than the more expensive cabins. It all depends on how well that sailing is selling. If its really popular cruise/itinerary and they know they will sell out then you may have a problem getting upgraded. But if that sailing is selling slow then they will upgrade to free up the least expensive cabins because they are easier to sell. Hope this help and good luck!

Re: Category SOLD OUT/Upgrade?
I'm wondering how it affects a gaurantee if I just booked in May for 8/4 sailing on the Triumph and the ship is sold out-prices have gone up since I got the "special" balcony cabin price in May. any chances at all for an upgrade? I'd love to get just one deck higher to get away from noise below! Debbie in MS
