What would be the best way to go for a family vacation for 2 adults and 3 kids? It seems that anything over 4 in a family is not easily accomodated. We are considering Disney Magic, Carnival Destiny, or Carnival Paradise. Seems the kids (ages 12, 9, and 6) would prefer the Disney ship but my husband and I like the Southern Caribbean itenerary.
Hi Shirl,
I've never been on a Disney ship so I can't comment on that but I have been On Carnival 7 times. I almost always have 5 in a cabin on them. We seem to fit fine. It's a little crowded at first but you get used to it and get in a routine taking showers or whatever. I think Disney has family cabins too tho that will hold 5 people. I don't think you could go wrong on any of the ships you mentioned. Both lines have good kids programs and your kids are at the perfect age to really enjoy them. Have a great time, you can choose one line this time and if your like the rest of us you'll be booking your next cruise as soon as you get off this one so you can try the other line next time. Have fun,
Linda
I've traveled on both Carnival and Disney, I am sure that Disney can accomodate 5 persons. They have one type of stateroom that is just like the verandah one but has an extra murphy bed. I am not positive of Carnival but I'm sure they do too. As far as programs for the kids, Disney is inclined more to cater the children, they have a wonderful kids program. Their kids club area is stupendous ! My children ages 11 and 6 loved both ships. They tend to be different in their own ways. Carnival also has the best of both worlds and there is enough for all age groups to do. Either choice will be a good one. The only thing that Disney does not have is casinos and if you don't mind that then you'll be fine.
I booked Carnival Spirit for 4 adults. We were going to try an fit into one cabin at a higher price until we found that the Spirit does have some connecting rooms. Might be the way to go if you can trust your kids.
I have been on three carnival cruises..............I am 15 now and I went when I was 6, 13, and 15. I have been on the Celebration, Fantasy, and Sensation. There are five people in my family and we always fit into one cabin just fine. Since there is so much to do, you never spend time in your cabin. So the size and comfort doesn't really matter. Your children will have plenty to do, especially on a bigger cruise like the destiny. I recommend Carnival to anyone. Everything about it is great.
