Default RE: Checked baggage

Hi,

I was wondering about the checked baggage, I will be leaving out of Tampa on Monday and we are driving so we will be parked at the parking facilities. Then as I understand it someone takes our luggage and loads aboard the ship? Does the luggage go through some sort of check, x-ray or someone customs agent open it up and look through it? How long will it take before our luggage is actually in our room, will we be able to change for dinner? I guess that is enough questions to ask for now. Thank you for your response. April

Hi April,
Sometimes it takes a few hours to get all your luggage. WE always carry-on the clothes we plan on wearing to dinner, just in case the luggage isn't there and since you are driving, that shouldn't be a major problem.

Have FUn.

The first night's dinner is usually come as you are because they know not everyone has their luggage yet.

We just carry our luggage on with us. They have an x-ray machine at the entrance to the boarding area and it is large enough to accommidate all luggage types. It was a little bit of a pain, but we had all our luggage right away and didn't have to worry about what strangers might be doing to it. It also saved us $1.00/bag porter tip. I don't know if the carry on procedure has been modified in the wake of the attacks, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

It hasn't been modified. At least it wasn't on my recent trip
(Sept 16th-23rd on Paradise)

I dont know if the luggage goes thru xray or is personally checked, but I took a very well wrapped bottle of Bicardi and a bottle of champayne in my suitcases and the second day of the cruise I was deliverd a note requesting an explanation of the liquire brought on board. The Champayne was easy to explain because we were celebrating an anniversary on board and it was to be opend at dinner and shared with our table mates. The Rum was not explained in a convincing way and was taken and given back at the end of the cruise with all other liquer purchases we made in Ports. It was handled in a very curtious manner.. It was hard to be mad
I'll know better next time.
