Hurricane Juliette
We are supposed to leave on the Elation this Sunday to cruise the Mexican Riviera. I just heard on the news that there is a category (highy dangerous) hurricane 250 miles off the coast of Cabo and head north west. Anyone have any experience cruising during a hurricane??? Does Carnival ever cancel due to bad weather?
If the hurricane threatens certain destinations on the cruise, you will be diverted to a different itinerary. The majority of the time you will just have a different itinerary when hurricanes threaten. You might get some shipboard credit for going places that were not mentioned when you booked, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
The cruise lines know how to deal with hurricanes. Just keep in contact with your travel agent or a customer service rep at Carnival to get updates if anything happens.
I just read on cruise news daily that this week they sent the ship to Cabo first, on Tuesday, then on to Ensenada, and then they'll be calling at San Diego and Catalina. They do everything possible to avoid the storm (ie: danger!).
