I was just checking the weather report for next week in Key West & Cozumel. It doesn't look to good! One of the main reasons I picked a cruise now is because my summer tan has fadded and I would love to get a nice carribean tan when I go away! What am I to do? Also, if it rains does the Cruise line have extra actvities for their passangers?
When we were on our cruise last January it rained just about every afternoon for about 30 minutes and it was sunny the rest of the time. Places closer to the equator are just like that. The rain didn't really change any of our plans. We were snorkeling, so we were already wet (just rain not thunderstorms). If it is overcast you can still get burnt. Trust me I learned that one the hard way.
I couldn't tell you if they plan more inside activities if they know it is going to storm all day because I haven't had that happen to me.
Doreen, think POSITIVE thoughts! Weather patterns can change drastically! I am sure you will have a FUN cruise in any weather conditions! I found the pool water to be cool even in mid August, but that was ok by me since it was scorching HOT on our cruise and that was the only form of way to cool down...other than another Margurita!!! Have FUN!!!
You are worrying too much! Before our last cruise in August the weather channel forecasted rain every day, everywhere we went. As it turned out it was raining on our drive from the airport to the port but as we got on board it cleared and was lovely the whole rest of the week, whereever we went. It did rain once at night but who cares? Have fun
The only reason they will change a port of call is for safety, some hurricane problems, ets. Rain would certainly not be considered unsafe. Trust me, there is more to do on a ship in rainy weather than at most Caribbean resorts. As said before, rain is very sporadic in the Caribbean or Gulf.
