Default Triumph mini suite?

We are trying to choose between a mini-suite and a balcony stateroom (8A, B or C). The difference in price is about $3000. My husband, I and our 12 year old son will be going. Is is worth the extra $3K?
Thanks for any input

We've never had a suite, mini or otherwise. Last time we sailed, Sept. '01, we did have a category 8A. We loved the balcony, it was our first. My personal opinion, I'd use the $3000 savings to book another cruise. Good luck with your decision.

If you're talking about a Category 11, as opposed to an 8, I'd take the savings.
The 11s are wider, with a larger bathroom.. but not $3000 better IMHO.

Kuki

Cathie,
I tried to email back but it wouldn't go. I think the choice is yours. Some 8A cabins have an upper bunk. When we sailed the Ecstasy in '91 & '93 our son had one. He was about that age then. He enjoyed it. They fold it up during the day. I have claustrophobia, but I think it would be tight with the sofa bed open. We have a review & some photos posted here if you want to check them out. Have a great cruise!!! I wish we were sailing again soon.

Thanks to both of you, Tina & Kuki. Much as I;d love a suite, money saved for another cruise down the road wins out. The specifics you both supplied were great. Thanks so much

Took 2 kids last year in a regular room vs a suite. We never felt crowded. As long as you have a balcony, I wouldn't worry about the size of the room. Definitely not worth $3000 to get a little bit of extra space.
