My own favorite in Miami is the Biscaynne Bay Marriott. About a 5 minute ride to the port. You can wake up in the AM to see the ships sitting at the pier. Wonderful sight!

Debbie,
There are a few hotels in the downtown area as well as some over on the beach. It mostly depends on what you are looking for. If you just want a clean room located conviently to downtown, (Bayside), then the Best Western is fine and can be had for arounf $60 for a large room overlooking the bay. The Everglades is also neat and clean and right beside it and goes for around $80. For a hotel a little more fancy and/or modern then you have the Hyatt, Sheraton, Marriott and DoubleTree that can be had for around $100 as well as the Wyndham. Suggest that you do a search for hotels in the Miami area, (lots of great websites), and then when you deciede what you want call the hotel DIRECTLY, not the 800 # and ask for the "Managers Special". These are often unadvertised lowest rates that can only be had by asking for them. Hope that helps.
Jim

I just booked the Holiday Inn International Airport (800-451-5218) and it's just $104/night and includes a complimentary shuttle ride Thursday-Monday to the Miami Port. (Unless you've already purchased a shuttle ride through Carnival from the airport.) Use the holiday-inn.com website to search for available hotels. There are a few others that range from $90 and up.

...Though I do NOT suggest using Priceline.com for cruise airfare(email me if you want to know why)..it is GREAT
for getting 100 dollar plus hotels overseeing the Port of Miami for 50 or 60 dollars.
The catch is you can't pick your specific hotel, but if you pick the downtown Miami area and a three-star category...I have gotten the Marriot, Sheraton
and Wyndham Biscayne. These are normally $100 plus hotels. and all three are luxury and oversee the ships (ask for a room facing the port).
