Okay, I scared up a new scanner! Sherry and I are coming in Saturday on the "City of New Orleans" train from Memphis and staying at the Mariott Courtyard downtown. We will probably take in the 'Quarter Saturday night and try to get on board at the earliest convenient time on Sunday. I thought we would just call a cab. It's only a few blocks I'm told.
This is MAJOR "get away from schedules" time for us, so I won't guarantee that we'll hook up at a certain time, but we will be laying on the deck ALOT and probably up by the smokestack where its nice and quiet as well.
We are scheduled for the later dining schedule, anyone else?
The picture attached is from a cruise on the Fantasy earlier this year.
We, too have been packing and shopping. If it hasn't been mentioned earlier, I'll mention it now. The best advice I ever got was to carry a small carryon with bathing suit and deck clothes and other necessities. That way you aren't overly put out if your luggage takes a while to show up.
Ladies, I'll have you know that I took my wife shopping for two evening dresses for the formal nights this past weekend. Sorry guys, if that now puts you on the hook to do the same, trust me.... it's worth it!
So far we are planning on Chukka Blue for horseback riding in the surf in Montego and snorking with Captain Marvin in Grand Caymen.. will wait to see what we are going to do in Cozumel.
Lastly, thanks for the link to the New Orleans Port, It's been cool leaving it open on my desktop and watching the port. Last night we saw a Carnival Ship disembarking. I can only assume it was the Inspiration.... it was at about 5:45 PM CST.
I haven't talked it over with the boss yet, but how about Mike Anderson's Seafood on Saturday night? I've read other reviews where cruisers met here at a certain time. I suppose if we get too large a group it could make seating difficult. I understand that this establishment doesn't accept reservations. So we'd probably just need to set a time to meet (early would probably be less waiting). Talk it over and respond. Any other suggestions will be warmly welcomed!
Was reading your postings because we sailed on the Inspiration in October. We ate at Mike Anderson's and loved it! The platters are great. I have to say their cheesecake is among the best I have ever eaten, and I have had some of the best. Go early-we ate around 3pm and had no wait. I hope I did not impose here, but please give it a try and you will love it. Their fried shrimp is fantastic. They also have good hurricanes!!! Wish I was there.
I know ann and i will be at the pool most every day soaking up some rays and relaxing. Were LQQking foward to greeting all of you aboard. ann&mick ps yall dont be shy were full of southern hospitality
Today is the day!!!!! Congratulations Al and Val! We can't wait to meet you all. Since you are planning on being at Mike Andersons anyway, how about we meet you there. You name the time. Saturday evening sometime or later afternoon?
One week from today we will be in New Orleans, YEH!
I hope everyone had a Happy and safe Thanksgiving.
We would love to get together on board and have a "get acquainted" party. We're not getting into N.O. until late Saturday night so meeting would be difficult. Has anyone put together a time and place to meet on board? If so, please let us know! We're really looking forward to meeting everyone and having a great time!
Mike Anderson's on Saturday sounds great to us. We can't wait to meet everyone. For those who cannot meet on SATURDAY, I say we make a time to meet Sunday on the ship before leaving port. I remember things were slow the first six hours after leaving port on our last cruise. It would be a great time to get acquainted with those who were unable to meet prior to embarkation.
I hope everyone is as excited as we are. There is nothing better than the first two days at sea-no stress, just blue waves, great people., awesome food and drinks, and last but certainly not least-no matter how messy our room gets, it is always perfect when we return!
One week from today, we will all be shipmates. Where will you all be at this time next week?I Casino? Jazz Lounge? library? Poolside? sound asleep? Any of the above sounds great to me! Michele, Brad, Amanda, Brittany E23
Michele, a good place to meet might be the Rhapsody in Blue piano bar. It is somewhat small and sort of like the TV show Cheer's,
"Where everybody knows your name." Just thought it maight be an easy place to meet everyone. They had a great piano player there on our last cruise on the Inspiration last year. Hope he is still onboard this year, his name was Greg. He really knew how to entertain the room and could do almost any request. I think that the song piano man was the most requested and he would just smile and say here we go again. As for a time I will leave this up to the board.
John & DeDe
P.S. This is only a suggestion as I am open to anyplace.
My sister just got back off the Inspiration 11/25/01. They had a great time. They had to do the lifeboat drill at 4:50PM but before that there were very few scheduled activities. How about 3:00 PM?????? Is this too early???? Too late?????? We need input so we can see what time is most convenient to everyone. After all, we are on vacation. Can't wait to meet everyone!
I have no idea about what time to meet, we sail at 5pm according to documents. Should we meet before say at 4pm or later. Let's have some input on a time that would be good for all.
