I am booked in a 1A on the Paradise (12-16). If we don't get an upgrade, I will be
fine with the room. Has anyone come back recently and been upgraded from their
1A? Less than three weeks to go!
Steve,
Chances are that you will get a cat 4 cabin inside. There are only a couple of 1A's and when you book one, that is basically just saying you have a cabin booked onboard the ship. Oft times they will allow someone who is sailing a single guarentee the cat 1A if they cannot match them with a cabinmate.

If you see the prices drop call your travel agent and ask them if you can get upgraded due to the dropping prices. That is how we got from a 4A (which we thought we got a decent deal on) to a 6B. Doesn't hurt to ask, the worst they can say is no.
Steve, chances are you may get upgraded. 3 of us sailed on the Fascination in August. We booked 2 cabins 1A guarantees. One cabin got upgraded to a 4C and the other stayed at 1A. I took the 1A since I was SOLO! Personally it was fine for myself only difference was the pull down (bunk bed) which I didn't even use. Cabin size was about the same. We got assigned on the Upper Deck and I was pleased with cabins and our location. Good Luck and enjoy the cruise!
We just returned from the Holiday. We booked a 1A cabin for my friend and myself. I initially had hoped for an upgrade, but once I saw my cabin I was 100% thrilled. I chose not to guarantee because I knew my cabin had a window. If I would guarantee, the odds are that I would lose the window because Carnival views the bunk beds as the lowest level category. I explained to the Purser that I might be drinking on board (notice the might) and didn't feel safe sleeping on the top bunk. Next moment a cot (VERY COMFORTABLE, I might add) was added to the cabin. As the room was L-shaped, this was incredibly easy and my friend and I each had a sense of privacy. The top bunk became a storage area! It was wonderful--the window area was large enough to actually sit in, like a window seat, as well as hide some personal items, out of view. The cruise, including airfare, still ended up costing about $100 a day.
The 1A's are wonderful on the Triumph too. My room had a porthole window with a twin bed. Also a sofa that turned into a bed. The room was HUGE. At least on this cruise, I was glad I didn't get upgraded.
Well since we had 2 inside cabins U72 & U175 I can't really say? But from what I saw passing by an outside cabin while it was being serviced the only differance was having the window! Cabin size looked about the same and the furnishings, bedding, etc. in the same color scheme. I don't think you will be disappointed? IMO a cabin is to get some sleep, shower & change. I personally don't need the Penthouse Suite since I spend my time outside of the room as much as possible! Now my next cruise in January I have a balcony booked...so my idea of a cabin may change, but only booked this better cabin because of the GREAT offers that were available. I still would go with an inside (lower cat.) cabin if the price was a MAJOR factor. Personal choice! I'm on the cruise to do just that 'cruise' not be in my cabin!
Can't do inside cabins. I had an inside cabin on a 3 night cruise once and I felt sleepy every time I went into the cabin. We are planning to go on the Victory and use the vouchers, but that means my child missing more days from school-he'll do independent study. I want to try a balcony because it will only cost about $700.00 less vouchers. I know someone who just returned from the Triumph - outside balcony. She loved it. Thanks.
