Default need advice

my daughter (23) and i (50) are going on the 3-nite bahama fantasy cruise december 27. got documents and we are sooooo looking forward to this "mother/daughter" birthday gift for my daughter (she will be 24 dec 28)...

advice i need is this - we can put all we need in two (2) pieces of small pull luggage pieces (plus a very large purse!) <g> ... so - do you think we would be able to just take our luggage with us ... instead of having the ship lines take it and put in our cabin ?

we are flying into melbourne airport and all we have to do is get it at the airport, give it to the shuttle people, and they take it from there - which i trust them to do as they do this many times every day --- but hopefully we will be on the boat by noonish and it would be nice to have our things with us rather than waiting until that evening ... plus the added hassle of looking for it when we get off the ship...

it is no big deal really, BUT if we can take it with us then i'd like to. so i was just wondering if any of you cruisers would know this answer.

happy cruising to all !!!

From what I hear from others, if it fits through the Xray machines that you put your purses through, you can carry it on board.

Have a wonderful cruise!!!

Once we waited until the next day for our bags so the following cruise we carried EVERYTHING on board with us.I would call Carnival and ask because of the new security precautions, but my experience is if you're willing to lug it it's less they have to deal with!

We are going on a 4 day on the Fascination on the 24th and my husband said to me " How many pieces of luggage are you bringing this time?" We usually do a 7 day cruise. Good for you, that you can pack light. I seem to bring everything including the kitchen sink. I wish I could bring just a few things, but I can never make up my mind. Debbie

oh - believe me ... our first cruise in may (w/husband) ... i DID take everything but the kitchen sink !!! <g> we have one of the largest (and i do mean LARGEST) rolling pieces of luggage they make (next to a foot locker) and we took that - packed tight - plus another one more normal just for shoe !!! i think i had about 10 pair of shoes - i mean --- you just never know !!! and if the feet ain't happy - then i ain't happy ! haha oh - it was funny !!! and that was only 2 pieces of luggage !!! didn't count the garment carrier or the smaller one that held toiletries ... then i had the largest bag the l.l. bean makes filled to the brim !!! oh it was comical ! that was a 7 day also ... i'm just hoping that these two smaller ones will does for my daughter and i !!! haha but lookout - we have the week / 7 day coming up in march and i'm already wondering how i will get by if i don't take practically EVERYTHING ! <G>

happy cruising !!!

We just got back from a cruise on Carnival Destiny. We got on with two pull suitcases that we also carried on the airplane. No problem at all. Have Fun. We have also sailed on the Fantasy. We preferred this ship to the Destiny.

That is a good rule, if you can carry it onto the plane, then you can carry it onto the ship!!

Have a great time!

Yes I think you can carry them on. Have a good time we are going on Feb.7, 2002 to the same place. If you would let me know how the ship is. Thanks
