Has anyone taken one of the Party boat Carnival excursions in Jamaica?
We were looking at trying one, and were wondering what people suggest... They have a Yacht San San, Jamaica Queen Party boat and a few others.... What do you think?
We were on the Jamaica Queen, I think...we toured went to Dunn's Falls, then toured and drank. It was ok - we were on the first tour in the morning - a little early for rum punch. I wasn't thrilled with Ocho Rios, so that my have colored my memories.
Sorry that this probably isn't very helpful. I think you should experience one, but like I said, it was ok - not great, just ok.
We took a catarmaran from the cruise ship pier to Dunns River
Falls. It was a nice trip - if you haven't done that before then
you will want to climb the falls. The boat waits for you and
one of the crew watches your stuff - cause you can't carry your
towell and fanny pack etc up the falls. You are in a b. suit
and get totally soaked. Then you come back down, and
you can play on the beach till they are ready to go, and then
you party hearty on the way back. They serve up drinks,
and play loud carib music, and the crew gets the ladies up to
dance, and it is a lot of fun. You pass by the ship, and everybody waves.
I've not heard of anyone who has been impressed with sightseeing
in Jamaica - in fact the year we went there was trouble in
Kingston and the govt was putting down some armed gangs.
The only place I've heard about that is a resort and is safe in
J is a place called Negril. But not been there.
The year we went, a lady we talked to at the pool later, said she
was able to buy MJ from the Taxi driver on the way into Ocho
Rios, and that is why she went there. She wanted to smoke a joint.
We detached ourselves from her quickly.
The Jamacian Queen is a larger boat and they have free rum and show on the way back. The other is Cool Runnings and that is the Catamaran and they have a bigger party on the way back. <G> Either is nice and quite enjoyable. You will be escorted with a guide at the falls and after climbing the falls and returning to the beach you can swim or just enjoy yourself until the boat is ready to leave. They also vidio the climb and that is available for $20 and they also take lotsof photos you can also purchase if you wish. Ocho Rios IS NOT Kingston and there are no gangs running around ready to terrorize the tourists. I have found Jamacia to be a wonderful place with fantastic and friendly people that will bend over backwards to please you. All they ask in return it to be treated with respect, just as you would wish to be treated. They are a very poor but proud people and respect is basically all they have and they will not allow anyone to step on that. A smile and interest in the culture is all you need to have a fantastic time and fall in love with this place. I'm really getting tired of all the claims of roving gangs and molesters that are nothing more than the product of over-imagination or rumors. We have wandered all over the area and have never had one bit of problem and I have been there many times. Like they say, no problem mon.
