Spirit swimming pools on Alaskan cruise (May)

are any of these likely to be open, let alone the water slide, on the Alaskan trips?

my ds is a keen swimmer and would swim in Arctic waters if he was allowed

I believe one of the pool areas has a retractable roof, so I expect that, just as on RCI's Vision Class ships, you will be able to swim and still be protected from the elements. Temperatures can be quite moderate in Alaska at times during the summer and so even the outdoor pools may be in use by other than members of the polar bear clubs. Your dad should be able to indulge himself, and you may even find yourself joining him in the pool. Enjoy Alaska, it is fantastic.
