Default Marriage License

Why do we need to bring our marriage license? Isn't proof of our last names sufficient? What happens if we don't bring it?

I would suggest that you go to the Practical Advice section of the message board and read some of the post on that board concerning passports, b/c and such. I personally ordered a new b/c, have current drivers lic, and will take marriage lic to verify name from maiden to married. I will probably get the passport for future sailings as it seems the safest method of transfer. Good luck. Denise

I would also think about obtaining a passport, its really the best identification you can carry, then no need for the marriage license. Here is a link to all the information you'll need to get your passport if you decide to do that:

The marriage license would be to prove that the drivers license and birth certificate belong to the same person since they would have different last names if the woman changed her name after marriage.

I personally got a passport so I didn't have to deal with carrying all that along.

If you get a passport before you get married they will amend it with your new name for free.
