Default Calling cards from Mexico???? Please help

We are sailing on the Celebration in less than two weeks. Once we reach Cozumel and Calica, I really need to call home. Can anyone PLEASE tell me which if any calling cards I should purchase that can be used from these locations??? I am trying to avoid using the room phone from the ship at $9.50 a minute....but I really need to check on my disabled Brother while we are gone! I'd appreciate any input.

The Sam's club/AT&T calling cards can be used in Mexico. You get a poor rate on minutes but they will let you make a call there. I remember seeing an international calling/internet center between the Carnival pier and downtown. Didn't stop so I can't tell you what the rates are like.

We went to Mexico last Feb and I called our Cell provider (AT&T) and for a small charge they added Mexico to our service. Seems to me it was about $15.00 per month and was prorated based on the number of days it was connected. Phone worked great and the charges were not too bad.
Have fun!!

last year lmy calling card would not work in Calica mexico---thankfully because I would have found out all my kids had strep-lucky grandma.
This year I am trying the pre paid calling card from Sam's club..I think it was $36 for 1000 minutes in the US and 111 minutes from Mexico.
So if you don't use the 111 minutes from Mexico you will have alot of calling time left for US calls.
We leave this Sunday on the Elation and go to 3 Mexican ports so I will have plenty of chances to use it. If you want to know if it worked leave me a message back with your email and I will email you when we get back.
I agree that 9.50 is excessive....I wonder how much they pocket on these calls.

I was on the Imagination 10/00 and tried to use my pre paid calling card with no luck from Cozumel. I too called collect from downtown cozumel and the call was 65.00-when I got the bill I called the long distance provider and fought the charge. They cut the charge in half (which was still high) but I felt a little better about the cost. have a great cruise!
