Default Potential Upgrade

Whoohoo!! Using the "Kelly method" online through Carnival's website I think I have found our cabin!! If everything works out the way I hope it does, we'll be in a 6B category (I think that's what it's called, I'm new to all this!) Basically, we booked an inside guarantee and looks like we'll be in an oceanview on the Main deck! I just had to tell someone because all my friends and coworkers are not excited at all when I inform them of this =) Should I be this excited!!?!? Thanks all for reading and always answering my questions!

Stephanie

That's great! Any upgrade is a reason to celebrate. I don't usually talk about it at work either. THey're jealous and I feel like I'm bragging. We can relate to you though!
Have fun!!!

This is NOT my post, I want to give due credit to MichelleP. I figured it would be easier to cut and paste rather than try and remember where it was...again, many thanks to Michelle for sharing!!

Okay, trying to pass the time recently I've been doing the "Kelly Method" to try to find the location of my guarantee cabin.

If you don't know what it is, the Kelly Method is a way of finding which cabin you are currently assigned to if you've booked a guarantee (GTEE or GTY). You log onto Carnival.com, select "Gifts" and start to order something for yourself. When you select an item to order, it asks for your booking number and your cabin number. With the Kelly Method, you enter your booking number and then go through each cabin number until it confirms you are booked in a certain cabin. It's named for the person who discovered the method.

Carnival caught on to what people were doing and now it doesn't seem to tell you precisely what cabin you have, even if you go through the entire list. But it actually does!

Using the method another poster described of finding out your cabin number by looking at your docs, I found that we are assigned to cabin R32.

If I go to the Carnival.com website and try to order something for myself, for EVERY cabin EXCEPT R32 it gives the message:

"Invalid Booking and/or State Room."

For cabin R32, the cabin we are currently assigned to according to our docs, it says:

"We are sorry, but an online order cannot be placed for a Guaranteed Category cabin. Please call 1-800-522-7648 to place your order over the phone."

So if you do the Kelly method, the one cabin that gives you that message is the cabin to which you are currently assigned.

Cheers,
Michelle P.

Try this:
Go to the carnival website, click on my reservation, log in.
After it shows your reservation put the following info into the address URL in your browser: http://www.carnival.com/BookModify.aspx
Your booking should appear with cabin info. It may have the number or it may only have the category. try it.

Does anyone know if the kelly method is still working? I had what I thought was my room. I just went to check again and it says incorrect booking number or stateroom. Do you think they moved me? I have checked 2 floors so far, and haven't come up with the 800 number, so I'm not sure. Any insight would be helpful!

When I go to reservations and give them my booking number, it says I don't have a reservation. I already received my docs so I know they should have everything.
I even completed my funpass and printed it.

Have you added your booking to your reservation page?

When you go into the "Modify" option, my buddy is still showing Ocean View category, but deck and cabin still unassigned. Does that mean they are definetly getting an ocean view and no chance of an upgrade? Or, since it's still not assigned, do they have a chance? We're only 2 days out.....just curious.

No, there is always the chance of upgrade. Especially on a GTY.

I entered the URL address above and I got the screen showing the information. Should I be concerned if the amount Carnival is showing as due is more than what my TA says is due? In other words, is there a savings somewhere that Carnival is not taking into account, but will be taken care of when my TA bills me the final amount?
