Have a booking on the Triumph 6/20 to 'NOWHERE' from NY (2) night cruise short get-away. Today I see it advertised for $100 less per stateroom than what I reserved...same category. Only have a $100 deposit down as of now...called Carnival today and NO adjustments to pricing was what I was told. This is a 'special' offer! Can I be 'upgraded' was my next question...yes you already have...duh yeah that was your original offer FREE upgrade! Well I have not paid IN FULL yet and was told I was already given an upgrade...YEAH RIGHT! So someone calls today and will get the same UPGRADE I received at $100 lesss so what am I getting? RIPPED OFF! I may just call tomorrow to CANCEL and lose my $100 deposit just for the principle of the matter! Carnival will end up being the looser when they don't get the revenue from my bar tab and casino play! WHATEVER! Just blowing steam here! Carnival agent says: 'geez never seen this happen?' so he was just as miffed as I was! Bottom line is being a 3rd past guest cruiser on Carnival means NOTHING to them!!! Their LOSS!!!
YES...cancel and rebook with them keeping the original deposit...brings me back to the ORIGINAL price! No gain for me! Just ANOTHER ploy they have over US! But when times were hard and they needed the business (post 9/11) they would do anything to get our business!!!
With the cruise being in June, I have no idea why you wouldn't get your entire deposit back now if you cancelled. You should be able to cancel anytime up to the due date for final payment, with no penalty. Especially if you booked this directly with Carnival.
Where was the lower price advertised? By an agent?
There is some confusion of facts here for sure.. and not sure on who's part.
No booked via www.carnival.com and keep checking the site and saw that ALL categories have gone down in price! I booked a 1A with an auto upgrade and got a 4G for $299 per person. Now the 1A with the same upgrade is $249 per person. All I was asking for was another upgrade NOT any change in the price.
WOAH THERE LEN!!!!!!!!!! I had the same thing happen and here is what I had to do.
Cruise to Nowhere same date and same passenger history. I called Carnival told them I want a supervisor and I want 1 now! Well I got a nice lady at Customer Service, her name is Charlene. True Carnival can not change the reservation but If you agent calls with a bonified lower rate Carnival will accept that before final. Well I called AAA and got a lower quote then my agent by $177 for 3 of us. I have now sent an email today to my agent and left a message to call Carnival.Charlene and get me that rate! Dont cancel Len and dont be surprised if the rates go lower either, the ship is not full!! Debbie Think we need to have a drink after this and we havent even packed yet! And Kuki no refund on deposits for 2 days cruises
UPDATE!!!!!!!! CARNIVAL PRICE REDUCTION. MY AGENT CONTACTED CARNIVAL AND MY RATE WAS REDUCED BEFORE FINAL PAYMENT. YOUR AGENT HAS THE OPTION OF PROTECTING HIS COMMISSION AND CARNIVAL WILL NOT CHANGE A RESERVATION (OR RARELY) WITHOUT THE AGENTS CALLING AND GETTING THEIR PERMISSION. CHECK WITH YOUR AGENT AND SEE THEIR POLICY. IT DEPENDS ON THE AGENCY THEY WORK FOR AND THE VOLUME THEY DO WHICH DEPENDS ON THE COMMISSION AMOUNT. LAST WEEK I TALKED TO CARNIVAL AND THE SHIP WAS NOT FULL FOR THIS SAILING SO HERE COMES THE REDUCTIONS? KEEP AN EYE ON THEM UNTIL SAILING AND FIND OUT WHAT YOUR AGENTS POLICY IS. A GOOD AGENT YOU HAVE BEEN WITH FOR A WHILE WILL ADJUST YOUR AMOUNT BEFORE SAILING. BUT LIKE I SAID, IT DEPENDS ON THE AGENT! MY REDUCTION FOR 3 IN THE CABIN WENT DOWN $130 NOT A BAD DAYS WORK CHECKING THINGS OUT AT MY END. REMEMBER IT IS YOUR MONEY YOUR VACATION AND YOU HIRED THE AGENT NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND.
