We just returned on March 30 and were on the Celebration. We went to Chankanaab Park. There is a $10. per person entrance fee. They have food and drink, a gift shop
and excellent snorkling. They also have nice changing rooms with lockers to rent. On the beach they have plastic lounge chairs and shaded areas. Snorkel gear can also
be rented there. We spent the morning there and had a great time. We returned to the ship for lunch and then a taxi downtown for shopping. As far as the best shops well there seems to be something for everyone. The shop keepers will do most anything to get you in their shop. I purchased a nice framed painted feather in the square. It was of a fish that I saw many of while snorkling . I got it for 1/2 of what the starting price was. My son also bought a beautiful chess set at a store called Los Cinco Soles.
If you get anywhere near Calica the shore excursion to Xcaret is excellent.
The cruise on the Celebration was great. We heard many comments on how old it was, stained carpet and strange smells. We found none of that and have nothing but good things to say about it. If you havene't already found it try cruisecritic.com and go to the message boards. As with this site lots of info.
