Review Posted & Picture Gallery

For anyone interested,

I posted my review of the Carnival Spirit 3/27 -4/4 8 Day Exotic Southern Caribbean.
I also figured out the photo gallery and put some pictures there. It was easier than I had anticipated - I love this site!

The pictures are goofy (lol) but the review may give you some information about the Spirit and the week we cruised. Thank you again for all the help you have given me as I transform myself into a truely obsessed cruise addicted soul. I know I am in good company!

Hi Donna,

The ports were St. Martin, Barbados and Martinique. St. Martin was my favorite, but to be fair, Barbados was Easter Sunday and Martinique was the very next day and a national holiday - so everything in both ports were closed and there were limited excursions. We were only in Martinique for what seemed like a couple of hours. It was rushed. I'd do this itinerary again in a heartbeat. I thought all 3 islands had lots to offer that we didn't get to see because we traveled over a holiday weekend.

What a wonderful review, Deja. I was also on that cruise and loved almost every minute of it. The out-of-control kids became more of a nuisance as the week dragged on. I think security could have done a better job; in fact, I didn't see them doing much of anything to control the nonsense. Parents weren't evident either. Like you, we looked forward to enjoying the disco but it was a mob scene. Why was the most interesting bar designated for kids up till 11:30 + every night. Certainly they could have allowed adults only every other night and let the kids go elsewhere like we had to do.

My sister was on a Disney cruise and her experience was far better than mine. Kids were positively not allowed in the bars. When an area was designated for "adults", the policy was strictly enforced. I'd like to know what Carnival's policy is on kids being in bars and the casino at all hours.

Overall, I agree with all your positive statements about the Spirit. It was beautiful, the service was impecable and our party enjoyed the food served in all areas. Yes, I would sail with Carnival a sixth time but you couldn't give me a cruise during Easter week.

Kellyann,

My sentiments exactly! I am cruising Carnival again- but you couldn't pay me to cruise over Easter! I certainly learned my lesson.

I loved the ship and I loved the experience. You tried to get into the dico too? Wasn't that amazing? I could not believe how packed full of kids it was! They were drinking in the ladies room- lol. I even heard them hooking up to meet in rooms where they had bottles.

We, out of curiosity asked one of the security guards outside the disco one night, why there were so many young kids in there. His answer was basically - there were so many teens on board that week that their priorty was trying to control the drinking, and that they didn't care how old they were! One night we even tried after 2:00am- it was even more crowded than it had been earlier! We did sit in there for a few hours watching the antics, hoping they would all go to bed, but it never happened!

I saw the kids in the casino too. Some sitting alone feeding quarters into the slots, no one said a word to them. The people with infants on their laps in the bars and at the midnight comedy shows were brave souls- (by that time of night my kids would be driving me bonkers), and I wondered why there were children just sitting at the bars in the lounges. That was a *great* week to be a kid on that ship!

You are right, they didn't do anything to control the nonsense. We took it in stride and had a blast anyway.

<clinking glasses> Here's to our next cruises - NOT during school holidays! <g>
