Default Ft. Lauderdale Hotels?

I just received my latest copy of Currents Magazine today and in it it says that the Carnival Legend's homeport will be Ft. Lauderdale starting with the Nov. 10, 2002 cruise. Originally, it was supposed to sail from Miami. I just got off the phone with my TA who is going to confirm this with Carnival tomorrow.

Of course, I just booked my hotel last week for the night before the cruise and from the advice on this site decided on the Best Western Marina Park in Miami. I even got a bayview room so that I could see the cruise ships when I got up. So much for planning ahead!

Does anyone know of a reasonable but decent hotel (up to $150 per night) in Ft. Lauderdale. I would prefer something close to the cruise ship docks, preferably where you can see the ships. Since I am not familiar with Ft. Lauderdale, I don't even know if this is possible.

Thanks for your help.

YES YES! Go to the Amerisuites! There is one site that can get you a great rate for this hotel. We booked through them when we went on the Grand out of Ft Lauderdale and were very satisfied. The rate on this site is significantly less than going through the hotel directly or one of the main travel sites like travelocity or expedia. We got the link from these boards actually.

Hotel is nice, rooms are big, lots of amenities, nice pool, obstructed view of port from some upper floors, free continental breakfast, and beyond great value for $$

Forgot to add, free shuttle to hotel from airport and from hotel to Port Everglades. Use airport location in Ft Lauderdale instead of the other one since their are two Amerisuites in Ft Lauderdale area.

Hi,

There are a select amount of rooms that have a view of the ships at the Embassy Suites Ft Lauderdale.

Happy Cruising,
Cherie

We know the Beach Plaza Hotel right on A1A in Fort Lauderdale which is pretty close to Port Everglades. The rates in off season are $49-$59 and up. It's a pretty little hotel, clean, fridges in some rooms, a courtyard pool and a friendly ambience.

You can reach them at (954) 566-7631

Their address is: 625 N. Atlantic Blvd (A1A)
Fort Lauderdale, FL 33304
