Default purchasing excursions

My wife and I will be crusing the Western Carribean on the Triumph in Feb03. I was informed that it was cheaper (about 1/2 price) to purchase the excursions on the port once you arrive rather than on the ship for the exact same excursion.

However... some excursions fill up fast (stingray) and you must purchase these in advanced on the ship.

Also, any thoughts on snorkling? purchase the tour or just rent the equiptment on the beach and go off on your own.

Can someone sheed some light on this?

Hi Jiol,
You may want to check out Capt. Marvin for snorkeling with the Sting Rays, you can pre-book or take a chance when you arrive, but there is that chance that its filled up for the day, here is the link:

http://www.captainmarvins.com/

You may also want to read through this site and see if there is any other excursions you may want to do:

http://www.shoreexcursions.com/

In looking at excursions, you may find some that the cruiseline offers that you can't find anywhere else, but some of them its true, you can do them cheaper on your own, so compare what the cruiseline offers and go from there. Just remember, some of the more popular ones do fill up, so best to book as soon as you are onboard.

Hi Joe,

My suggestion would be to sign up for Stingray City on board.....I've heard people do sometimes sign up on their own, but you would definately *not* want to miss Stingray City!! It is SUCH an experience, you'll truly enjoy it!

Another suggestion...purchase underwater cameras before going on your cruise... the ships charge the cost of quite a few limbs for these cameras, which you can purchase at a MUCH more reasonable price beforehand!

Happy Cruising!

..Jean

You can definitely save money but I would definitly pre book your excursion or space does become an issue.

Captain Bryans is a great operation, 50ft trimaran, sweet way to visit stingray city for sure. More comfortable then a motor boat.

Excursions in Grand Cayman, Print the COupons

Watch out for stingray hicks and don't rub the squid against any body parts:-)
