I just found out I have 2 cabins on the Upper Deck, cat. 8B on Spirit that are obstructed by lifeboats. Has anyone had the same problem and how bad was the view?
This is an Alaska cruise Sept. 4.
I'm in the process of booking a cruise on the Spirit in the spring and I read in another web site to avoid 8b because they are partially obstructed by the tenders. Look at the deck plans and you will see the tenders directly under those cabins. Perhaps, if you look down, you will be looking at the tenders instead of the water. Anyway, the writer said to go with 8G or 8i. I'm going with 8A which is aft of the tenders.
I was reading the previous post. I have been on the Spirit. As for the 8B cabins, you will not have a lifeboat in your direct forward viewing. BUT, you will be right on top of the lifeboats (looking down). This position will block straight down water views and people watching while in port.
I suggest to avoid lifeboats....that you move to a cabin just past the lifeboats, in mid section where you see the word ATRIUM in your Carnival book. These are great cabins and centrally located. Or move up one more deck to 8D (Empress deck).
Someone mentioned 8I........this deck is right under the Lido deck and it is noisy. I know I had one of those cabins #8173.
Another thing to remember is that the ship docks on Starboard side (right side) in St. Maarten, Barbados, & Martinique. So choose a cabin that's on this side, if you like watching people and looking at the other ships in port.
