Is it true that if they acknowledge a special event and bring out a cake to you that they later bill that to you S&S account? I thought I read somewhere thay when Carnival asks you if you are celebrating a special event and you say yes a birthday or an aniversary that they will sing and bring out a cake and then charge you for the cake but they don't tell you that ahead of time...is that true? I am celebrating a birthday and an anniversary and just wanna know what to expect...thanks much >
Yes they will bring out a cake and gather around and sing to you. No they will not charge it to your S&S card. It is a free service so just let your waiter know. Now if your "pre-order" a cake through your TA, CCL, or the Pursers desk they do charge for this celebration but it is a bit more elaborant and not really worth it IMHO.
We had a birthday cake that we ordered ahead of time for my daughter on the Conquest. I knew ahead of time that it cost about $7.95. It was a small size but it was enough to share with a few other people. They didn't sing happy birthday to us but we did and so did two other tables.
Then it must of changed since January. They brought my son a cake for his b'day and didn't charge us.

They don't sing anymore on the Glory. We asked the head waitress and they said that they have stopped singing for occasions and no longer give out a free cake. You can purchase a cake that they will bring to you but they won't sing like they used to.
They were still singing "Happy Birthday" on the Elation as of the 8/8/04-8/15/04 cruise! I don't know if they brought out a cake or not, since the birthday person was several tables away from us. Perhaps this is something that is left to the discretion of the Maitre 'D....?
they asked if we were celebrating any occasions at our table on the Celebration in july, they brought out a menu showing cakes cause we were on our 5th anniversary and we had 2 sets of honeymooners, but they did say it was a charge-not free!!! don't remember the price, it was a chocolate cake and on the dessert menu that night was a wonderful slice of chocolate cake, so everybody was like why would we pay for a cake when you can get a slice for free!!
