We will be going on the imagination in jan and will be in key west from 7:30 am to 2:00 pm and was wondering what the most fun thing to do in that short of time is. We will have a few thirteen year olds. Appreciate any suggestions.

Hi,

Key West is a town where you stroll around and shop, or hang out in one of their fine bars or restaurants, more than "do" anything. We live in Florida and go a couple of times a year, generally preferring to just walk around town. If you've never been before, a trolley tour would give you a general overview of the town and might be fun for the kids.

I also came across this web site and thought it sounded kind of fun. Haven't actually done it. http://www.keywesthunt.com/

I've also never done any of the shore excursions offered in Key West, but maybe someone who has can post some information. There's probably one or two that might be fun with kids.

Cheers,
Michelle B.

Was just reading your message, and I will be on the fascination on the 20th just curious to see if that was your ship and date.

Hello!
My husband and our two children, ages 12 and 13 at the time sailed on the Facination during Spring Break last year. Our first stop was Key West we had the same time frame as you will. We rented an electric car $60.00 (I think) for 4 hours. We tried to see as much as possible during this time we went to the southern most point in the US and took pictures, we went by Ernest Hemingways home and actually got to see some of the 6 toed cats in the yard, we cruised downtown and saw Margaritaville and Sloopy Joe's , we also went to Mel Fishers's museum. Fisher was treasure hunter and the museum is filled with the story of his search and you actually get to hold a gold bar from one of the ships!

You can rent bikes and scooters as well. Have fun!

there is a great little aquarium right near the dock that is really worth the small charge.there is alot of hands on and a great touch pool and the guides are terrific. take a short walk to the key lime pie company. it's actually the factory and you have to take your pie to go but it's cheap and terrific. don't miss margaritaville (just because) and also there is a bar along the main drag where you can get every flavor of frozen margarita in the world (can't remember what it's called but there is one at the Mall of America too). if a ship is in port, most of the stores should be open too.
