private island

I have only cruised Carnival and my wife and I really enjoy it. I have noticed a lot of other lines have private islands. Does anyone know why Carnival does not? I think I would enjoy a day on a beach, but when I go to ports, I dont want to lay on the beach because I feel like I need to see the islands.

Actually they do but it is used by HAL. <G> There has been some discussion that they may use it in the future when HAL isn't there.

We just got back from a 7-day Eastern Caribbean cruise on Pride (11/30/2002 - 12/07/2002) and we visited Carnival's private island -- We docked at Nassau, Bahamas and were tendored to Salt Cay where there were beaches, hammocks, and a barbecue.

Thanks Tami for the info. I thought they might be using Salt Cay but wasn't sure so didn't want to say so.
