I was just pricing a cruise on www.orbitz.com, and noticed that they are pricing all rooms within a category at the same price, regardless of what deck the room is located on.
For example, I priced the Paradise in May. All category 6 rooms were $649, even up to the Empress Deck. Just yesterday, only Riviera Deck rooms were $649 - everything higher was more expensive.
I noticed this was also true on the Triumph in May.
I'm not sure of the extent of the dates and/or ships, and whether or not this is an intentional promotion or a glitch. I just thought I would post this so people can give it a shot. Travelocity did not have the same prices.
We ended up booking through Orbitz for our Conquest cruise this Sunday. We found that Orbitz by far had the best deal and we made it even better by coordinating with Carnival directly.
We got an Orbitz quote for a Category 6A room using the web site. We then called our contact at Carnival who booked us a 6E room with a 6 hour hold. He gave us a reservation number and a PIN. We then called Orbitz (on the phone not the web!) The agent at Orbitz was able to transfer the 6E room reservation using the res number and PIN and book it at Orbitz' 6A promotional price. It took about an hour to do but well worth it.
We ended getting a mid ship port side view room for the price of an interior 6A room! I don't want to tell you the price ... you may think we stole this!
Orbitz seems to do this occasionally. Jump in their quick, the prices may be gone tomorrow. I found a great price for Hawaii on Orbitz. The outside cabin that I booked was less than inside! Now that price is back up to normal on their website.
