Default Carnival Fantasy Class ships?

I am cruising on Carnival's Fantasy ship in 10 days. We have a Category 12 suite but there are three of us. Are the beds 2 doubles or 2 twins (we are one couple and my mom and I am hoping mom will not have to sleep on the couch pullout)? Also, is the ship nice? Dated? Worn? I keep reading such mixed reviews. Any opinions (particularly from anyone who has cruised this ship recently) will be appreciated.

Thanks!

Bed s are together to make one but they should have a fold out sofa bed. at least all the 12's I have been in have had them.

I cruised the Fantasy 10/01. It isn't in the greatest condition, but if you're on a cruise who cares. The food was great, the entertainment was good, the itinerary was ok, but that's what you chose. The Fantasy was alot of fun. We went to the shows and spent alot of time in the piano bar. You'll have a great time. Just don't expect too much and you'll be pleasantly surprised. I too have read the reviews and fortunately none of the complaints apply to the cruise I was on. Have fun!

I was on it 11/01 and it was as Sooshie mentioned not in the best condition but certainly not bad and the food, service, shows were great. You will have a good time for sure. Sorry but can't help with the cat 12 but if you go to www.cruisestaterooms.com and select ship database and then Carnival Fantasy you may be able to see a layout for the room. Happy sailing!

I just got off the Fantasy last week. I had a cat 12. The room will be fine for 3 people. there are twin beds & there is a sofa that pulls out. I was suprised to see that it wasn't as bad of shape that everyone talks about, but...the shower was awful, the food mediocre at best, the beer was cold, the casino was a ball, the other bars were great . The dining table was crammed, our steward was non existant. Room service was prompt, but remember the portions are very small, so you might want to order 2 of things.(one night we had BLTs & they had mayo on one side & mustard on the other!) I hated Windows-felt like an office building cafeteria. And, contrary to everyones opinion, I thiught the pizza was gross. If you go to any shows, sit downstairs in the Universe lounge (we had terrible views upstairs) Any other questions I'll be glad to answer.

Thanks rootgrl. I guess I should ask , would you sail Fantasy again? Also, how many cruises have you taken before and were they newer ships? I have only cruised once before on Royal Caribbean (and it was an older ship) but I did have a good time mainly because the crew was a blast. Also, did you go to Nassau, Bahamas? And if so, what was your opinion? Again, my previous cruise was to Bermuda (which was beautiful).

Thanks so much.

Want to thank everyone for their opinions. I know I am probably worrying for nothing. I guess it is because 12 other people in my family decided to join us on our cruise and I want to be sure they have a good time. But gosh, it is freezing here in the Northeast , and I would rather be on any ship on any island (where it is warmer) then be here right now. and getting some honest ideas of the shape of the ship will prepare me and then if I am not expecting too much, I probably will be pleasantly surprised. So again, thanks all!

Jen,
We've sailed on Fantasy several times, and have always had enjoyable trips on this ship even though she is a bit older than much of the Carnival fleet. So what? You'll enjoy your cruise, I assure you. As for the itinerary, the 3-night cruise is to Nassau only while the 4-nighter goes to Freeport as well. In Nassau, don't miss going over to Atlantis resort on Paradise Island! You'll not see anything like it anywhere in the Caribbean. And while Nassau is rather quaint and old (except for Atlantis), Freeport is quite modern with excellent roads and the enjoyable International Bazaar. Freeport also has Garden of the Groves, a lovely botanical garden. So enjoy the ship while you're cruising, but don't fail to get off at the port(s) while there and see the sights. Happy cruising!
Jack

Jen, yes, I would sail the Fantasy again. It was my first & my friends third cruise.
I really did have a good time. I will explore other ships next time, though. I was pleasantly suprised at how clean it was in spite of other reviews. I have been to the Bahamas before, but many years ago. I liked Freeport. We went to International Bazaar (I think) and had the best lunch on the trip at a place called Carribean Cafe. The cracked conch & fried plantains were outstanding. Our taxi driver was named Mina & we ended up meeting her father & sister (all in the same buisiness) I also got a great deal on a necklace there. That was the best weather day of the trip, but we didn't bring our suits, so I only got my feet wet. still...WONDERFUL! Even if the weather is still a little chilly, its better than at home! The Atlantis was really HUGE, we ate lunch at a little place down the street called Anthony's. It was suppoed to be a good place to go, but I thought it was average. When you go shopping in Nassau, if you want to get a shirt from Del Sol...walk down about 2 blocks to their other store. Much bigger, better selection & not as crowded. Any more questions?? Got lots of answers!!!

I would definately go on the Fantasy again. I also sailed on the Imagination and also on a Royal Caribbean ship. I would go back to Carnival in a heartbeat. Much more activity and fun. Of course I would look at going on other ships first with different itineraries but for the right deal I would sail the Fanasy again. Have a great time. I too am in the Northeast and freezing my *$$ off!
