Default Miami hotels

Any suggestions on Miami hotels the night before departure. We want nice and something close to the Market area. Have heard the Howard Johnson is terrible, but great things about the Inter Continental. Anyone been to Bubba Gump's to eat???

Try priceline-- we got the Hyatt-- the going rate for bidding is between $27.00 and $52.00.-- the internet rate last time I check was $189.00-- but things change too

Have a great time--- too-- whatever you end up doing--enjoy

We also got the Hyatt Regency on Priceline for $45/night. If you bid 3 star in the downtown area you are probably going to get the Hyatt or the Sheraton Biscayne Bay hotel.

You might want to stay in south beach area or in the area where Bay side is located.

We bid 3* on priceline for downtown Miami - bid $27 and got the Hyatt on the first try.

Bubba Gumps is a chain but always fun and good food usually.

First time I went with my teenage niece. We were taking the train to downtown Chgo. and she was saying, Aunt Susie we have to go to Bubba Gumps. I didn't respond because of the noise of the train. I thought she was saying Bubble Gum and I was convinced I didn't want to go to a teenie bopper place!!!

I have never used Priceline before. I am afraid to give my credit card info without knowing the exact name of the Hotel. Is this the way it works? I might end up w/ a "not so nice" hotel . I am not picky, but this makes me more than a little nervous. I usually pay $99 for the Marriott.

Advice?

Thanks, Mike

I just paid $65 per night for the Holiday Inn on South Beach through priceline. Friday and Sat. nights. It was fine. Wanted it on the beach, then the weather was too cool to use the beach that week.

I booked the Renaissance Biscayne Bay (downtown) for $60 through Priceline. Expedia has it for $199 & $229.

We are leaving 2/15 on Triumph and found a room at Radisson for $70 (Cheaptickets.com) I like the idea of a shuttle from the airport to the hotel and then hotel to the port the next day.

Actually, it was a few weeks ago - on January 11. I remember the date because we went to a wedding that evening.

I went to Bubba Gumps in Sept 02 with a group of 30 that was sailing on the Carnival Victory and we had a great time. The waiters were great and they served great food. So go ahead and enjoy!! Also there are many hotels in the area. Bubba's is in the Bayside Market and there is also entertainmen there.

Don't stay at the Everglades it is really dirty. We were there Jan. 23 & 24 and we asked changed rooms 3 times before we got one that I would put my head on the pillow.
