Excited, I have heard rumors that some have done this but not sure if an electric coffee pot is a good idea with it being a possible fire hazard. I also know that coffee purists don't always appreciate ships coffee. (Lord let me tell you about US Navy Coffee!!) The newer Spirit Class Carnival ships do have a specialty Coffee Shoppe where pretty good brewed coffee can be obtained. The downside is that it is an extra cost whereas regular coffee that is available 24/7 is free.
What Jim said is true but also some of the fantasy class ships do specialty coffees for an added charge. I would not recommend bringing an electric pot. For one thing there is only one outlet in the room and it is a hazard. Carnival has decent enough coffee that I can tolerate drinking it otherwise.
Jodie is a Starbucks manager and we don't go any where without our Starbucks coffee. Last cruise we brought our French Press and just asked for hot water from room service. We plan on doing the same thing this time around
We always bring our small espresso maker and a couple of thermal mugs. I can't see it being a fire hazard as long as you make sure you unplug the maker after you use it. I would imagine curling irons are a far greater risk.
If you are used to Stabucks, you will not be satisfied with the coffee on board, although the cruise we took on the Elation last Jan did provide free specialty coffees with your meals in the dining room.
