Default Legend 3/10/03 Ideas for Shore excursions-Belize,Costa Rica

We're sailing on Monday and wanted to know if any of you have any good suggestions for these ports.... We're age 43, 55, 56. Not white water rafting, etc. We like snorkeling and sigthseeing.....

The Shark Ray Alley tour in Belize got really good reviews from people on our sailing who did it. We went cave tubing in Belize so I can' t give you any personal experiences beyond that. You might want to check out www.regtour.com
He does cave tubing and snorkeling excursions in Belize that are much less then Carnival's.

The cave tubbing is great. We used Reggies Cave Tubbing, I think someone else gave his website. It is alot of walking though. The tubbing is pretty easy, but in some spots you have to really paddle with your arms to fight the current. We just got back last Sunday from our cruise. If you book on the ship its about $85, with Reggie I believe it was $65 per person. They were great, they do everything to make sure you are safe. In a few spots there is very small rapids, but you can walk around them. They arent bad, but I walked around two of them. Its alot of fun and beautiful. There is about a 45 minute walk to get to the river. But the good news is there is only about a 100 yard walk back!! They also have tours to the Mayan Ruins in Belize, you can book that threw the ship. Have fun!

If you are not interested in the CaVe tubing, how about the Altun Ha/River Wallace excursion from the ship? A little bit of nature and some history Mayan ruins, plus a good look at this beautiful country. In Costa Rica, there is the Tortugera Canal trip or the Aerial Tram (must be booked on ship as soon as you board due to limited space. At Colon, don't miss going to or into the Canal. We have cruised the canal, so will go on the Ocean to Ocean Train tour to Panama City. the ferry into the canal & locks is supposed to be very good.
Bon Voyage
