Default AAA group cruise ???

We booked our cruise (Legend-August 1st) through a AAA group package. We booked an 8A guaranteed cabin. We were wondering if anyone had ever booked through AAA on one of their "discounted sailings" and if you were still able to get upgrades? We are fine with 8A, but one can always hope, right? We just didn't know if the possibility of an upgrade is diminished because it was booked within their group?

I've never booked through AAA as I have yet to see any pricing from them that wasn't much higher than could be obtained elsewhere.

My parents booked last minute thru them but it was 3 days from departure. No upgrades. But really did you book a cate you like? If so then what is the problem? I haven't been the lucky one with the great upgrades. Seems like Carnival likes to give them to 1st timers and I'm past that. I pay and book the cate I can live with. I do not hope for or concern myself that I will get an upgrade. I wish you luck in your upgrade and happy sailing.

As mentioned, AAA is historically higher priced even for their "group" cruises. You should do some Homework if you haven't already. What AAA offers is the commaradarie of others, a group escort and sometimes transportation from you local office instead of you having parking or transportation fees to your airport. I usually calculate that expense at about $100 per couple, so you can subtract that (if a feature) and decide if going with them is worth the price. Anytime a Category Guarantee is purchased, you have a 50/50 chance of being upgraded. If their price is so low that it is worth the anxiety, then you should be satisfied, too.
Bon Voyage

We booked out of NYC for $1599.00 and as I have been doing my homework, the cheapest that I have found (on icruises) was around 1800.00. Carnival and Travelocity are both quoting 1900.00. I feel that the price is fine and we are close to NYC so extra travel was saved also. Thanks for the replies, I was just curious!

I booked a group cruise through AAA last year it was a special cruise with the SF Giants that you had to book with them and their price was fine with all the extras we got. AND yes we did get an upgrade.

Is that $1599 per person? If so, that is outrageous for a Cat. 8A. I am in a Cat. 8 G with a chosen cabin in Prime season for $1200 per person and we received or will receive a total of $800 cabin credit bringing our cruise with taxes & port charges to a mere $800 each. I know due to limited Caribbean sailings from NYC, these cabins are pricing a little higher, but if that's per person, I would keep checking. You can cancel without penalty up to 70 days before your final payment is due. Although I book with a local AMX agency, I monitor prices on icruise.com and bestbuycruises.com who seem to get good discount prices as you get closer to sailing. Good Luck.
Bon Voyage
