6 days to go!!! May 4 03. This will be my wife Tabatha and I first cruise ever. We can't wait. Not only our first cruise but our first actual Vacation together. We are a couple in our 20's 24 and 28. We are travelling with my Parents which will be allot of fun. I'm looking forward to meeting new people. I've heard so many great stories about people making great friends on there cruises. If you have any ideas on really fun things to do in the ports please let me know. So far I have a general idea of what to do but it sounds like the thing to do is plan your own excursions. We are planning on mainly beaching it and snorkling in St. Maarten and St. Thomas along with a little shopping (I hope). In San Juan I'm not sure what to do yet.
Brian and I are getting excited. Not sure what excursions we were going to take, but I read that since we are docking at 5pm in San Juan a lot of the shops will be closing up. Not sure about this, so I wasn't sure what to do while there. Will have to think about this one. Brian and I are 31 and 33 respectively. Plan on snorkelling and doing the beach thing and maybe some shopping in St. Thomas and St. Martin.
We can't wait either! Only 6 days!!!!! My wife Kim and I are so excited! This will be our second cruise. I'm Scott. Kim and I are 35 and 37. I heard there wasn't much to do in San Juan, but I'm sure we'll get off the ship and walk around, hit the casino if it's open, maybe try a restaurant, and we have to score some t-shirts from the Hard Rock Cafe, of course. Like Justin and Tabatha, we plan to do our own thing in St Maarten and St Thomas. Probably hit the beaches and do a little shopping and drink a lot of rum punch and guavaberry coladas. Of course, we have to hit Orient beach at St Maarten. Lots of bars and topless sunbathing. Our kind of beach!!! We should all have a cruisemates meeting on the ship at one of the bars. Who's in?
Count Us in. Although I really havent studied the lay out of the ship yet. But I'm sure the first places I'll be finding are the bars. I'll let yall pick the time and place. Funny sounds like everyone has about the same plans. We were also planning on hitting the Hard Rock in San Juan. We collect the those drink glasses from there. Ya know the real tall ones. Well it's a good excuse to get big drink while where there anyway. Are any of you planning on bringing a little of your own liquor on board. Just curious.. I was going to take a bottle to supplement the bar bills I hear they really add up on ship.
In St. maarten I think we are doing the same as Kim and Scott. and in St. Thomas we are plannnig on taking the ferry over to St. John and then going to Trunk Bay(I think thats the name). I've heard there is some great snorkeling and good rum runnners over there.
We are also going with you on the 4th. This is our tenth cruise and 4th on Carnival. Bringing a newbie couple who have never cruised before so we are looking forward to their reactions. We are the oldies at mid-forties and they are later thirties.
About Trunk Bay, it is absolutely beautiful but the snorkeling is not spectacular. We're planning to go to other bay's down the road from Trunk. See you there!
Where would you recommend we go. You said down the road do you know the names because from what I gather we will be taking a taxi from where the ferry drops us off at. THanks.
Carnival Victory is a beautiful ship. Entertainment on board is pretty good.
Regarding San Juan, we like to go out on our own in old San Juan. Take a tour of the forts and don't neglect the old cemetary. It is so beautiful with amazing statues.
There are also some nice spots to sample some of the local cuisine as well.
i just got back from the victory and it was awesome!!! in san juan all the shops were still open and there was quite a bit going on....i definatly recommend going to senor frogs (TONS OF FUN!), st. marten was kinda dirty but nice beaches and st. thomas and st. john were by far my favorites! go to trunk bay for snorking...its awesome!!!
Let me know if there are many children and teens on the ship. The several cruises I
went on there were many children and teens on board. I do not have anything against
them but I'd rather be with adults.
There are other bays in the area such as Hawksnest, Cinnamon and Maho, that I was told has better snorkelling that Trunk. But I have read some reviews that said Trunk was the best so I really don't know which is better. I went to Trunk Bay in April 1999 and the water was cloudy and not many fish. I once asked one of the ship's dive experts and he felt Coki Beach on St. Thomas was the best snorkelling in the area.
The following site has lots of info including ferry schedules.
My friend & I will there! it's a girls trip for us! it's my second and her 1st cruise. my first time on Carnival, though! we can't believe it's only 4 days away!! any other singles traveling?
