Default analysis paralysis

I'm trying to arrange a family cruise (2 adults 2 young children) on the 7 day Carnival Conquest cruise leaving from New Orleans on May 18th. This is the only embarcation time that remotely fits all our school and work schedules. I've check with my local travel agent, and with expedia, travelocity, cruisequick, orbitz, and other large travel sites and they all have given me basically the same price for the four of us.

The consensus price is $690 for the adults (inc port charges and taxes) and $585 for the kids for a total of $2550. These are either for the lowest level inside cabin or what is shown as a 'guaranteed cabin' at the lowest level. My local travel agent has a different structure which is the largest in the Mobile, AL area, is quoting me about $100 more each for the adults and $100 less each for the additional passengers the total price is the same. They have told me this is a special price because I am a resident of Alabama .

I haven't found any 'last minute' sites which offer a better price than this either.

This would be my second cruise ever but my first in 15 years and the first with kids. I am pretty flexible about when to book as we live only 2 hours by car from N.O.

My question is, 'have I missed anything?' $2550+other charges is not going to break the bank but I don't want to leave several hundred dollars on the table if there are better deals on this cruise available.
Thanks for any and all advice.

Hi Bob,
You may also want to try out the "bargain finders" here at cruisemates and see if you can get anything better:

http://www.cruisemates.com/CF/bargfind/index.cfm

Sounds like you got a good price so far, but you may find a travel agent with group space that can pass the savings on to you. By posting here travel agents will e-mail you with prices and availabily according to the information you provide in the post.

Good luck and happy cruising!

I'd say you got a pretty good price there.....but if you need a quad cabin, do NOT go the guarantee route. Carnival's inside cabins are among the largest in the industry....you will want an assigned cabin.
