My wife and I have been on 7 cruises in the past 2 years and almost always book with a guarantee. we have used the Kelly method in the past and it has worked well using just our booking number. we are going on the Pride may 24 and have a cat. 8b garantee booked. I have tried to use the Kelly method again to find our cabin but they have changed the procedures. you now need an assigned cabin number to buy gifts online. does anyone know of another way to tryn and find our cabin?
Carnival found out what people were doing so they disabled the feature for people with guarentee bookings.
I guess you just get to wait for the suprise at the pier now. We had a guarentee for our last cruise on the Paradise in Feb. and our cabin number was printed on the docs when we received them. So you might find out that way too.
I sailed CCL a couple of months ago and the cabin number was on the docs, in fact all 4 cruises with them they were. But really whats the big deal finding out the room number beforehand? If there's a room you just don't want then you need to book your cruise with a cabin assigned right then and there.
nushnakka,
we avoided booking an assigned cabin because we were told by carnival and our TA that you almost always eliminate the chance for an upgrade that way. the best chance at an upgrade is to book the category you will be happy with even if no upgrade comes through and then if it does you've got a little gift.
our TA told us that the guarantee assignment will most likely turn to a specific category by the time we get our documents so I am planning to start trying the kelly method about two weeks before our docs are due to arrive. if i find it cool, if not then no loss.

After researching that info, seems like alot of work just to find out your cabin number.

In Jan we had back to back trips booked on the Victory. We had category guarantees. We were unable to find out our room right up until we went to board the ship for the first week and we were unable to find our second week room number until half way through our first week on the back to back.
In other words your room number may be a mystery until you get to the pier. Our luggage tags just said TBA when we received our docs.
L Galloway, I understand by not booking an assigned room. I do that to but not for the sole purpose of upgrades, heck I didn't know that would happen til several cruises later. I'm just not lucky in getting the "fantastic upgrades" that most here get. I book the cate I'm happy with and expect nothing more. Do you think that's my problem? My thought was that everyone is so pre-occupied in finding out what their cabin is and if they got that cate 1 to 8 upgrade! Me, I'm happy just to be cruising. Several years ago it was nothing more than a dream for me, now it's been a reality several times over and I am happy about that.
As far as I know we did not book for an assigned cabin, just specified the category we wanted. I was able to find our cabin by entering the booking number and then the different cabins within the category, until I hit the right one and then it confirmed that this was our cabin. It really did not take that long to do. I did not do it, hoping to find I had been upgraded but with the cruise several months away, if I'm going to spend time day dreaming about my trip, it give me more detail for my day dreams.
