Default RE: First time cruiser questions

I have been reading about different excursionsin both calica and cozumel. We don't have much time in calica and thought about doing the bus tour to cancun. Any tips or advice? Also thought about going to Chankanaab Park while in cozumel. My son want to snorkel and I just want the beach. Do they have a nice beach area for swimming? Would it be better to take a boat excursion and snorkel off that and then go to their beach. Two other questions. Where do you buy the Soda Fountain cards for the ship, and since we are going to be there the 1st week of June, do we need jackets for the evening?

Dont know much about Calica. However Chankanaab Park will offer you both a nice beach, snorkeling opportunities, nature walks, reptile encounters, replicas of Mayan ruins and much more. There are about four dive shops in the park.

You may purchase Soda cards at the bars on the ship. As of March 9, the costs were $19.95 for Children and $29.95 for Adults on a 7 day cruise.

We were in the area last year in June and it was very warm, but RAINY! Definitely bring a rain jacket, water repellent pullover, or something if you want to stay dry. Gentlemen will need a jacket for Formal Night. Which ship will you be going on?

Thanks so much for the reply. We are going on the Celebration on June 2nd. Very, very excited. On the soda drink cards, what age do they consider an adult. My son is 19. Will there be many activities for his age to do. He's worried about being bored.

At 19, I don't think he will be considered a child. He will have to work pretty hard to be bored. There will be plenty of things for him to do. There is usually a dance club that is set up for teenagers only until 11:00 maybe, However, that may be too young of a crowd Guests that are over 18 may play in the casino. There are also game rooms and activities on the deck for all ages. He can go and have a great time. I went on my first cruise at about that age and enjoyed everything!! Make sure he takes advantage of eating has many different entries as he wants.

Have you been on any of the excursions at Cozumel or Calica? We are really tossed up about either going to Chankanaad Beach, or doing the Catamaran in Cozumel. And also I cannot find anybody who has been on the Cancun bus trip out of Calica. Sure could use some info on what is the best to do. Thanks so much.
