I just got back from a cruise on Inspiration. Altough nothing was really terrible, the ship is certainly showing its age. The carpets looked dirty and the decking has wear and tear. The blanket on our bed was truly gross (stained etc.)! There are many chldren running around unattended. So if that bothers you, look out. Food in the dining room was very good and the staff was efficient but could have been a lot friendlier. I am an experienced cruiser so perhaps my mental comparisons with past ships is a disadvantage. It took us 2 1/2 hours to debark but we were in not danger of missing our flight home.
The worst thing that did happen was that our waitress was in the infirmary for a couple of days midweek. When asked about her absence, the waiter said she had "woman problems". When she came back, I asked her how she was feeling and she answered in a barely audible raspy voice that she had a "raging infection and a sore throat" and that the doctor refused to write her a prescription for antibiotics. She also joked that she thought he was a veterinarian. Then she asked if I wanted more bread! In this time of SARS and Norwalk virus scares, my wife and I opted to have most of our remaining meals at the casual dining facility called the "Brasserie".
Anyway, we will continue to cruise but maybe not with Carnival and certainly not on Inspiration.
