Do they go through all your luggage when it's time to leave the ship? What is the limit of cartons of cigarettes? Since you put your luggage out the night before, when would they go through it? (First time cruiser here!)

No they do not go through all your luggage. They do xray luggage and many times have dogs available to sniff luggage. Opening the luggage by customs is random. I have seen them take things from people. Why those people were chosen I have no idea.

I can't be of any help with the cigarettes question because I don't smoke and don't bother to pay attention to that subject.

You will be provided with some papers to fill out and list all your purchases, depending on where you purchase the cigaretts will depend on how many you can bring back, I believe you can bring back 10 cartons from St. Thomas, other stops not as much, so do check into that, same kind of policy with alchol too. They can and sometimes do go through your luggage if they feel there is a problem, as you leave the cruiseship terminal with all your luggage you will have to go up to a customs officer with your paperwork and he'll let you pass....

Leaving June 2nd on the Celebration out of Galveston. It a gift for our son who graduates from high school on the 22nd of May. Very excited.
