I just got a AARP membership and booked a Carnival cruise for this summer and my TA said that I didn't get any kind of a discount for my AARP membership on my Carnival cruise. She said it only helps you on certain cruises. I don't understand this, do you?
The discounts do only apply to certain sailings. Like any company the sailings they know will fill up especially fill up quickly they will not give a discount on. They will give discounts on sailings that may be harder to fill. It comes down to supply and demand. It never hurts to ask for the discount you just cannot count on the discount.
My TA wanted me to apply for an ARP card to get the $50.00 discount, per person but before I could do this, she took advantage of another discount that was bigger. Due to
this I could no longer qualify for the ARP discount. So it appears absent a better deal, use the ARP discount but if you can get a bigger discount some other way, then forget the ARP discount.
